Understanding the convergences of all of Sharon’s life experiences in, is a big part of why Resilient Lands Matter Inc was birthed in the wake of a global pandemic.

“The fascination in organizational thinking combined, with the training in hydrological modeling of watershed systems has been an underpinning in the ability to understand complex ecosystems. With decades of perspective gleaned from hundreds of confidential relationships, I feel honored and blessed to share with value aligned friends.

Finding my gift at identifying and manifesting creative, proactive and incentive based solutions, stars aligned to start my own thing again.” Jan, 2020

The urgency behind Resilient Lands Matter is that solutions are not complex, it is the human dimension and the disconnect between different stakeholders that create bottlenecks in decisions, funding allocation, and access to information for shared visions.

The problems often have a systemic dysfunction.

With natural stressors accelerating and worsening, it is increasingly harder to model, plan, avoid, budget and respond/react to increasingly unknown and unpredictable consequences that threaten human communities.

From a systems perspective, it is the human drivers and the changing climatological conditions that threaten the ability of our natural world to respond in time to adapt.

The passion behind Resilient Lands Matter:

  • Landowners are landowners, it doesn’t matter how big, small, corporate, municipal, conservation partner;

  • Landowners, more often than not, who seek me out want to do right by the land, and don’t know what that means for their lands and/or how to do it;

  • Landowners don’t like to waste time or money, and want to know all their options ;

  • Helping landowners understand their options how to keep lands working for the good of the landowner, their beneficiaries and future generations;

  • Providing landowners with access to information and conservation capital;

  • Helping inspire landowners to realize how their lands connect to resiliency concepts of leaving it better then they found it;

  • Helping landowners understand how conservation drives economic development;

  • Reconnecting people to the land through authentic engagement and outreach, and understanding that means completely different things in different communities;

  • Helping landowners feel empowered to make the decisions that serve their short term and long term needs, financially and in terms of the legacy they want to leave;

  • Landowners will have the peace of mind that empowerment when they have access to a trusted resource, who provides relevant and situationally appropriate information, uniquely need for the land they have;

  • Identifying and resolving systemic barriers that once removed, will improve coordination, collaboration and cooperation;

  • Driving money to conservation. Those who have it to give, want Conservation Impact. Those who need it, don’t necessarily know what to do or where to find innovative and incentive based solutions. My team does, and if it doesn’t exist, we have the creativity to find a different win-win solution.

Our brand is our heart centered approach to relationships with the land and landowners. Mission impact is in DNA of bottomline.

Confidentiality is backed by integrity and unwavering professional commitment to the landscapes we know and understand.

My personal experience in culturally complex landscapes, and a reverence for the deep connections to the stories of the people of the lands, drives organizational authenticity, accountability and transparency.

As a daughter of an ex-pat family living in Colombia, moving to the US as a child shaped my ability to adapt/thrive/survive to new cultures and situational realities. As a mother of three daughters born in Charleston, these landscapes are imprinted in the DNA of Resilient Lands Matter. Saving and restoring lands that sequester carbon, feed the people, grow healthy forests, buffer forested and marsh wetlands. Wetlands that have improved flood storage and water quality filtration functions. All these concepts, land protection, restored resiliency, native plant restoration, all fall under “Nature Based Solutions”, green infrastructure or simply put, helping Mother Nature do what she has always done: help humans breathe clean oxygen and all the bounties that healthy forests, rivers and oceans provide to its planet’s inhabitants.

Having worked in all forms of organizational structures, it made sense to start a new small business model that aligns to the UN Sustainability Goals, creating something new that didn’t exist and can address systemic dysfunctions in innovative ways that a public benefit focus provides.
